Overview

BookIt for Forms and Routing Links both route prospects through your BookIt for Forms graph and present the right meeting owner’s calendar. The difference is where the form lives and what happens to the submission. BookIt for Forms works with your existing website form and keeps your marketing automation platform (MAP) in the loop. A Routing Link is a lightweight, LeanData-hosted form that routes the prospect without going through your MAP.

Why Use BookIt for Forms

• Your form is already the conversion point. Demo request and contact sales pages already get the traffic. The calendar appears right after submit, as part of your existing form experience.
• The submission lands in your MAP. MAP form fills drive campaign membership, scoring, attribution, nurture, and consent capture. BookIt for Forms keeps all of that because your form still submits as normal.
• Your form captures more than what is typed. Hidden fields, UTMs and cookies, enrichment, and form shortening (for example, asking only for email and enriching the rest) all keep working. A Routing Link only knows what is typed into its form or passed as query parameters.

Behind the scenes, BookIt connects the booked meeting to the right Salesforce record using the BookIt Log ID. How that Log ID reaches Salesforce is different for each option.

How the BookIt Log ID Works

BookIt for Forms

When a prospect submits your website form, the BookIt script generates a Log ID and stamps it into a hidden field on the form. BookIt shows the calendar right away, without waiting on your marketing automation platform (MAP). The form submission, including the Log ID, flows into your MAP as a normal form fill and then syncs to Salesforce, where the Log ID connects the record to the meeting.

Routing Links

Routing Links do not pass through your MAP.

• Known records: The graph identifies the existing Lead or Contact and updates the Log ID on that record.
• Unknown prospects: If you configure it in your graph, the Routing Link creates a new Lead directly in Salesforce. If Lead creation is not configured, the prospect can still book and the meeting takes place as normal, but the Event in Salesforce is orphaned because there is no Lead to relate it to.

When to Use Each

Scenario	Use	Why
Inbound demo request or contact sales form on your website	BookIt for Forms	The Log ID is stamped on your form and flows from your MAP to Salesforce. The calendar shows instantly.
Net-new prospects that marketing needs processed through your MAP	BookIt for Forms	A Lead created by a Routing Link does not go through your MAP.
Marketing needs attribution, campaign membership, scoring, or consent tied to the form fill	BookIt for Forms	Your MAP form still submits as normal, so all of it keeps working.
Your form uses hidden fields, UTMs or cookies, enrichment, form shortening, or checkboxes	BookIt for Forms	The Routing Link form is intentionally basic. It only knows what is typed in or passed as query parameters.
Email campaigns or sequences to known Leads and Contacts	Routing Link	The graph identifies the record and updates its Log ID. No form needed.
Follow-up for prospects who submitted a form but did not book	Routing Link	They are already known records, so they can book without filling out a form again.
In-app scheduling for logged-in users	Routing Link	Embed the Routing Link in your product, pass the known user info as query parameters, and add skipForm=true to send users straight to the calendar.
You need a simple form that routes prospects and creates Leads, without MAP features	Routing Link	Lead creation is configured in your graph. No website form or MAP setup needed.

Rule of thumb: If you need what your form and MAP do with a submission, use BookIt for Forms on your existing form. If you already know who the person is, or you just need a simple form that routes and creates a Lead, a Routing Link is the lighter option.

About the Routing Link Form

The Routing Link form is a lightweight form that collects only the information needed for routing. It is not meant to replace your website form.

• It can be prefilled with query parameters that match each field’s Form Field API name.
• Adding skipForm=true skips the form entirely, but only when every required field is passed as a query parameter.
• It does not support enrichment, form shortening, checkboxes, or other features of a full website form.
